Action Tutoring supports young people facing socio-economic disadvantage to achieve a meaningful level of academic attainment, with a view to enabling them to go on to further education, employment or training. They do this by partnering high quality volunteer tutors with pupils to increase their subject knowledge, confidence and study skills. Their vision is a world in which no child’s life chances are limited by their socio-economic background.
The three year partnership between Impetus-PEF and Action Tutoring will result in a structured, codified, and well tested tutoring programme that is underpinned by research and elements of best practice. Over three years, this programme will be delivered to around 4,000 low income pupils in eight cities.
