One child in five in the UK is growing up in severe poverty. Only 30 per cent will have escaped that poverty by the time they’re 30.
Impetus-PEF works to help economically disadvantaged young people to succeed in education and employment. Our programmes focus on educational attainment and work readiness, because these are the two prime areas for intervention that lead to meaningful and lasting change in the lives of young people from these backgrounds.
There’s no quick fix to the problems caused by economic disadvantage. Many need individualised support, tailored to their specific needs. That’s why we take our partnership approach.
We partner with the most promising charities and social enterprises that work with these young people. We provide them with a powerful combination of long-term, unrestricted funding, alongside management support from our in-house investment team and pro bono expertise from business professionals – thus maximising their effectiveness and enabling their expansion.
Our aim is to ensure that these organisations deliver high-impact services that produce clear and measurable life-changing outcomes for the young people they serve – and when the evidence shows they are doing so, we help them achieve scale thereby serving many more young people in need.
