OC&C Strategy Consultants and Power2

Working with Teens and Toddlers was a truly great experience – they do excellent work for young children and it feels wonderful to contribute to such a good cause. These projects allow us to take on more responsibility and hone our out-of-the-box thinking.

Pro bono supporter: OC&C Strategy Consultants Ltd (OC&C)
Charity partner: Power2 (formerly Teens and Toddlers)
Project type: External market review

Why the project was needed
Power2 runs a programme called Teens and Toddlers which works with disengaged students who are supported to mentor toddlers in a local nursery. Young people like Mark. By acting as a role model to their toddler, the teenagers improve their behaviour and are encouraged to progress into Further Education.

In our Driving Impact workshop, our Investment team worked with Power2 to scope out what they ultimately wanted to achieve for young people. Following this, Power2 wanted to do a review of the market in which they work in, to identify strategic opportunities and challenges they might face in the future.

What the project involved
OC&C is a global strategy consulting firm and longstanding supporter of Impetus. We’ve been working together since 2004 and over the years OC&C has provided valuable pro bono support to dozens of projects. For this project, OC&C carried out a review of the market in which Power2 works. The project involved getting feedback from different stakeholders, desktop research and analysing different programme models. At the end of the project, OC&C made recommendations to Power2 for how their programme might appeal to their different funding streams – from central government to charitable donors.

Impact of the project
Power2 put forward a number of recommendations from OC&C to their Board of Trustees, which were approved. Power2 then used these recommendations to inform their five-year goals, which will help them to change more young lives.
